What is Student Skills Analytics

Today’s teaching-learning environment in schools is very challenging. Even best of the schools struggle to – stay relevant to the changing psyche of students and increasing demands from parents. They are also concerned about staying relevant in the competition among quality schools. Nevertheless, helping teachers to be relevant in today’s complex teaching-learning environment is another important concern for schools. To address these challenges, each of them needs a different method. Fortunately, there is a single-most important link that connects and helps to solve all these challenges at one go. The link is Quality Learning Outcomes (QLOs).

Current measurement of QLOs is limited to basic subject matter or topics-wise understanding of students. However, for a student’s future, it is the skills that come from subject understanding and the school environment, that are important more than just the understanding of a subject for now. Students may forget subject understanding over the years, but it is the skills that they would carry forward. These skills are the advanced QLOs. myNalanda’s Student Skills Analytics measures these advanced QLOs of each student from Grade 5 to Grade 10.

Insights on students’ skills (QLOs) empower teachers to understand students’ skill profile, their personality, and help to customize the instructions. It also helps teachers to set up measurable skill improvement goals for students or a whole class.

The insights on QLOs, when shared with parents, help to meet parent’s expectations and delight them. They also act as competitive advantage or differentiator over the other competing schools that are focussed on quality.

Student Skills Analytics profiles each student on 15+ crucial quality learning outcomes. Inputs are collected on each of these skills/outcomes by using 2 different methods – test and feedback. Compared to the prevalent method of sampling to collect feedback, inputs are collected on each student from parent and teachers. This removes any biases and builds authentic insights on skills.

Besides the insights on the individual student, Student Skills Analytics build trends and in-depth analytics at a complete school level. The insights from the skills and trend analytics are mapped to teachers’ performance, school budget, processes, and school culture and values. These insights are shared as reports, recommendations, and consultation to bring out the best strategies for class-wise teaching instructions.
